Sarah Glynn is a clinically trained midwife and health publisher who has spent more than two decades translating complex medical insight into accessible, evidence-informed care. She founded the first international exchange program and online college for out-of-hospital midwives, helped launch flagship online learning programs with Sounds True, produced the Dragonfly Health series on Gaia TV, and hosts Boulder Wellness Week, convening leaders across integrative and conventional medicine. Diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer — and having lost her own mother to the disease — she founded Peony, a platform that helps women navigate breast cancer with clarity, evidence, and support. She lives in Boulder, Colorado, with her two children.

This talk explores the meeting point of conventional oncologic surgical care and functional medicine — a model of care that treats the whole person, not just the disease. Drawing on her experience as a plastic and oncologic breast surgeon alongside functional medicine practice, it offers a vision of cancer care where science and wholeness walk hand in hand, from diagnosis through survivorship. Topics include: Conventional meets functional: blending evidence-based protocols with a root-cause, whole-body approach. The surgical journey as a life transition, holistically supported: preparing the body and mind before surgery, supporting it through the procedure, and nurturing deep healing after. Beyond the tumor: gut health, immune balance, hormones, and the emotional and energetic dimensions of recovery Honoring nourishment, rest, connection, and inner resilience as essential parts of healing — not just the incision, but the whole story. The goal: Showing that surgeons and functional medicine practitioners can walk the same path, offering cancer patients care that is rigorous, compassionate, and truly whole.
