Leo Grady
Dr.
Leo is the Founder and CEO of Jona, a health technology company that developed AI to comprehensively analyze the gut microbiome and to simulate the effect of different interventions on the gut in order to unlock the utility of the gut microbiome and significantly improve health. He is internationally recognized for his two decades of leadership in applying AI to healthcare, including leadership roles at pioneering Bay Area AI startups (HeartFlow), multinational medical companies (Siemens) and as CEO of Paige.ai. At Paige.ai, he led the company to become an industry leader, launching groundbreaking products globally and securing the first-ever FDA approval for an AI product in pathology. Leo has authored two books on AI, published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers and is an inventor on more than 300 patents. A recipient of the Edison Patent Award, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive and Neural Systems from Boston University and serves as CEO in Residence at Breyer Capital.
ABOUT THE SESSION
Using AI to optimise deep shotgun metagenomic sequencing, microbiome-specific
3 OCT · Precision Stage · 14:20
The gut microbiome contains extraordinary biological information. However, translating a stool sample into clinically useful insight has remained difficult. In this talk, healthcare AI pioneer and Jona founder Leo Grady, PhD, explores how deep shotgun metagenomic sequencing, microbiome-specific AI and new digital-twin technology can provide a comprehensive analysis of your health though the gut microbiome and make this information actionable.
Drawing on Jona’s research and clinical examples, Leo will show how AI connects an individual’s microbiome with the rapidly expanding scientific literature and simulates how diet, lifestyle, supplements, probiotics and medications may alter it. He will examine applications in early colorectal cancer risk, gastrointestinal symptoms and metabolic disease, while addressing the field’s limitations and unanswered questions. Attendees will leave with a practical view of where microbiome testing can support prevention and patient management today, and how to use it as evidence-linked decision support without confusing association with diagnosis.
ABOUT THE SESSION
The ecosystem within: What your gut is trying to tell you
4 OCT · Vision Stage · 13:40
From microbiome and parasites to testing, symptoms and the future of personalized gut health
Our gut is home to one of the most complex ecosystems in the human body – yet we are only beginning to understand how profoundly it may influence our health.
In this panel, we go beyond probiotics and generic gut-health advice to explore what is actually happening inside us. From the microbiome and microbial diversity to parasites and other hidden disruptors, we ask what we can measure today, what we still don't understand, and how these insights can translate into better health and even predict risk factors in the future.
Together, our panelists will explore:
• What does a healthy gut ecosystem actually look like – and is there such a thing? • How can changes in the microbiome show up far beyond digestion? • What role can parasites and other overlooked disruptors play? • What can today's gut tests genuinely tell us – and where are their limitations? • Can we move from generic gut-health advice towards truly personalized interventions? • And what will the next generation of microbiome science allow us to understand about our health?
A conversation about the hidden ecosystem within us – and why understanding it may change how we think about prevention, resilience and personalized health.
