The biology of beauty – skin & hair longevity

PanelVision StageBODYMIND

About the session

What if healthier skin and hair start much deeper than what we see on the surface?

This panel explores the emerging field of skin and hair longevity, looking at how our internal health, hormones, stress levels, nutrition and different life phases influence how our skin and hair age — and importantly, how they respond to regenerative treatments.

From hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause to chronic stress, rapid weight loss and the growing use of GLP-1 medications, many factors can contribute to changes in hair density, skin quality and our ability to regenerate.

Together, we will explore why the same treatment — whether PRP, light and laser therapies or other regenerative approaches — can produce very different results depending on the individual receiving it. What happens when the body is under prolonged stress or lacking the biological building blocks needed for repair? And should we be looking at internal health before deciding which external treatment to use?

Rather than treating hair loss or skin ageing as isolated cosmetic concerns, the conversation will connect inside-out health with outside-in regenerative treatments — and explore how combining the two may represent the next generation of beauty and longevity.

Speakers

Lars SkjøthLars SkjøthFounder & CEO

For over three decades, Lars Skjøth has dedicated his life to understanding the intricate science of hair and scalp biology, driven by an unwavering commitment to helping others overcome the challenges he once faced himself. At 16, Lars experienced firsthand the frustration of persistent scalp issues that had no effective solution. The treatments prescribed by dermatologists were not effective and had uncomfortable side effects, masking problems rather than addressing their root causes. This personal struggle became the catalyst for what would become his life's work. Rather than accepting inadequate solutions, Lars began asking deeper questions: Why do conventional treatments often fall short? How can science be applied more thoughtfully and holistically to create truly effective, yet gentle remedies? These questions ignited a passion that intensified over the years. Drawing from Denmark's rich tradition of meticulous research and holistic wellness, Lars immersed himself in biochemistry, nutrition, and the complex biology of hair and scalp health. He explored natural, plant-based solutions with the rigor of a scientist and the empathy of someone who understood his clients' experiences intimately. In 1992, this journey culminated in the opening of the first Hårklinikken clinic in Copenhagen, rooted in Danish principles of thorough, individualized care. What began as one clinic has grown into a global network of flagship clinics serving clients across all continents, yet the founding philosophy remains unchanged: every individual deserves personalized treatment based on their unique hair and scalp biology. “Hair continues to amaze me. It defines us and is part of our identity and self-image,” Lars reflects. “My greatest goal is for all my clients to feel empowered from our specialist care and from the results they achieve from our customized treatments.” Today, Hårklinikken's approach combines decades of clinical experience with cutting-edge research, all delivered through the lens of Danish attention to detail and genuine care for client wellbeing. Lars and his team have treated more than 100,000 clients worldwide, each case contributing to their ever-expanding understanding of scalp and hair health. Lars’ commitment extends far beyond the science: it's about restoring well-being by addressing the root causes of problems and ensuring that everyone deserves to feel good in their own skin, starting at the scalp.
